We put a lot of care into every treat we make — and we want to make sure your pet enjoys it safely. Our cakes and cookies use only natural, human-grade ingredients with no additives, but there are still a few important things to keep in mind before your fur baby digs in.
Here's everything you need to know.
1. Don't Let Them Eat the Whole Thing at Once
Our cakes and cupcakes are made with wholesome ingredients, but the nutritional profile is very different from your pet's regular food. They're higher in protein and natural sugars than a standard meal, which means eating too much at once can upset your pet's stomach — especially for dogs with more sensitive digestion.
Recommended serving:
| Dog size | Recommended amount |
|---|---|
| Small (under 5kg) | ½ cupcake or less per sitting |
| Medium (5–15kg) | 1 cupcake per sitting |
| Large (15kg+) | 1–2 cupcakes, depending on appetite |
You don't have to serve the whole order in one go — save the rest for the next day as a special treat. Since our products contain no preservatives, please consume within 1–2 days of receiving and keep refrigerated.
If your dog experiences loose stools, vomiting, or appears lethargic after eating, reduce the portion size next time or discontinue. These reactions are rare with our natural ingredients, but every dog's stomach is different.
2. Please Tell Us About Any Allergies
We believe pet parents deserve to know exactly what their fur babies are eating. That's why we're fully transparent about every ingredient in every product — no hidden additives, no vague "natural flavouring" on a label.
When you order, please let us know if your pet has any known allergies or sensitivities to:
- Chicken or fish (our cake bases)
- Egg
- Dairy (our fondant uses pet goat milk)
- Sweet potato or carrot (in our cookies)
- Any specific fruit or vegetable
If you're unsure whether a specific ingredient is safe for your pet, just ask us before ordering — we're always happy to discuss alternatives or adjust where possible.
🌿 Our commitment to transparency
Every ingredient we use is listed and available on request. We don't use artificial colours, flavours, or preservatives — ever. Natural fruit and vegetable powders give our decorations their colour. Pet goat milk forms the base of our fondant. What you see is what you get.
3. Introduce New Treats Gradually
If this is your pet's first time trying a PawPa Pastry treat — or any handmade pet cake — we recommend giving a small piece first and observing for 1–2 hours before offering more. This is especially important for:
- Pets with a history of food sensitivities
- Very young dogs or puppies
- Senior dogs with slower digestion
- Pets who haven't tried chicken- or fish-based cakes before
Most pets take to our treats immediately and without any issues — but a cautious first introduction is always the responsible approach.
4. Treats Don't Replace Regular Meals
Our cakes and cookies are designed to complement your pet's diet — not replace it. On their birthday or a special occasion, it's perfectly fine to let them enjoy a cupcake, but make sure their regular meals remain consistent throughout the day.
Avoid giving treats immediately before or after a full meal. A little gap between their regular food and a cake means their digestive system isn't dealing with too much at once.
5. When to Check with Your Vet First
While our ingredients are natural and generally well-tolerated, we recommend checking with your veterinarian before ordering if your pet has any of the following conditions:
- Diabetes — our cakes contain a small amount of honey; your vet can advise on appropriate portions
- Kidney disease — protein intake needs to be carefully managed
- Pancreatitis — higher fat content from coconut oil and egg may not be suitable
- Inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) — new foods should be introduced very cautiously
- Known food allergies — always disclose these to us at the time of ordering
We're always happy to share a full ingredient list before you commit to an order — just ask.
6. Storage & Freshness
Because we use no artificial preservatives, our products have a shorter shelf life than commercial pet treats — and that's exactly the point. Fresh food is better food.
- Cupcakes & cakes: consume within 1–2 days of receiving; keep refrigerated
- Cookies: best consumed within 2–3 weeks; store in a cool, dry place or refrigerate
- Do not leave treats out at room temperature for extended periods, especially in Singapore's humidity
- If you notice any change in smell or texture, do not feed to your pet
We made these guidelines because we genuinely care about every pet that eats our food. Your fur baby's health comes first — always. If you ever have a question about a specific product or ingredient, don't hesitate to reach out before ordering. 🐾
